42 diamond rings stolen from store; 3 suspects sought

A man managed to get a set of case keys and steal several dozen diamond rings from a store at Westfield Franklin Park mall.

While two people distracted store employees, the man got into a case at Zales about 4:40 p.m. Thursday, taking 42 diamond rings from the cases, which are locked, according to a police report.

The rings are valued at $80,300, according to police.

The man who stole the rings put them in a white bag and walked out of the store, uninterrupted. Police described him as a black man between 20 and 30 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches, 130 pounds, and with black hair and brown eyes.

His accomplices, who police say distracted store employees at a nearby counter during the theft, also left without incident. One is described by police as a black woman, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet, 5 inches, 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The other is a black man, 5 feet, 6 inches; 230 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Zales employees reported the theft about 20 minutes later.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
