Information needed about Toledo slaying

Toledo police are asking for help in solving a homicide that occurred last month.

Omar Sutton, 19, of Walnut Street was found fatally shot June 20 in the central city, according to police.

Gunfire erupted at 2:14 a.m. in the parking lot of Remy's Gentlemen's Club, 707 Matzinger Rd. Several people were shot during the altercation, suffering nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

Sutton showed up at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center a short time later with other people who had been at Remy's when the incident occurred, according to a hospital spokesman. Authorities said he caused a disturbance in the emergency room and was escorted out of the building by a public safety officer.

Sutton was found at Collingwood Boulevard and West Bancroft Street at 3:35 a.m. with a gunshot wound and was taken in a private vehicle to Mercy St. Vincent. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 3:48 a.m. He died of a single gunshot wound to his chest, according to the Lucas County Coroner's Office.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Crime Stopper program.
