Man arrested for alleged robbery
A Toledo man accused of helping to orchestrate a robbery was being held in the Lucas County jail on Monday.
Matthew Underwood, 26, of 1106 Norwood Ave., is charged with one count of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon; his bond is set at $75,000.
In documents filed in Toledo Municipal Court, police accuse the suspect of assisting with the planning and execution of the Aug. 27 robbery of Flop Cafe, 3325 Glendale Ave.
Police allege that the suspect gave Michael Nelson, 27, of 3533 Airport Hwy., a gun to use and called Nelson several times to ask “how the robbery was going to take place.”
Police stated they used phone records “verifying Underwood’s involvement.”
Nelson, also charged with one count of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, posted a $75,000 surety bond on Aug. 30 and was released from the Lucas County jail.
He’s scheduled to appear in court again for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 4.
