MONROE — Monroe County sheriffs have arrested a 23-year-old man accused in the slaying of a 20-year-old man in North Toledo, authorities said.
Tyler Watson was arrested about 1:30 a.m. today when deputies executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 2800 block of North Monroe Street in Monroe, according to the sheriff’s office. He was booked into the Monroe County jail pending extradition to Lucas County.
Once deputies made forced entry into the apartment, they found the suspect in the master bedroom of the apartment with a woman who was renting it, deputies said. There were three children inside the apartment who were asleep at the time of the warrant service.
The suspect, whose last address was 331 Lapier St., had been charged with murder in the death of Nicholas Linke, who died at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center a short time after he was found shot near a crashed car in the 1900 block of Ontario in Toledo about 10:40 p.m. Saturday night.
Deputies said information obtained by Toledo Police and Monroe County sheriff detectives led to the arrest. They did not say what that information was.
It was the 31 homicide reported in the Toledo metro area in 2012; 22 of them have occurred in Toledo.
