No arrests had been made Monday in a Springfield Township shooting that injured one.
Gilbert Boerio, 31, of Toledo, was shot at least once in the 600 block of Clarion Avenue sometime just before 3:24 a.m., when the incident was reported to the Lucas County Sheriff's Office, according to a deputy's report.
Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot; when first responders arrived on scene, they found the victim in a back yard where he was treated for his injuries before being taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio, for treatment.
The victim's condition was not available.
Witnesses also told deputies that the gunman fled the scene after shooting; a full suspect description was not provided in the report.
Several hours later, deputies searching for a suspect saw a man riding a bicycle westbound on Angola Road. The man, the deputy wrote in a report, was wearing clothing that matched a provided suspect description.
The man jumped off his bicycle and ran into a nearby woods in the 6800 block of Angola as the deputy approached. The man was not found, but the bicycle was taken to the county property room.
