The man shot in Springfield Township on Sunday was identified today as Gilbert Boerio.
The victim, 31, was shot in the 600 block of Clarion Avenue, which was reported to the Lucas County Sheriff's Office at 3:24 a.m., according to a sheriff's report.
Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot; when first responders arrived on scene, they found the victim in a back yard where he was treated for his injuries before being taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio, for treatment.
Witnesses also told deputies that the gunman fled the scene after shooting; a full suspect description was not provided in the report.
Several hours later, deputies searching for a suspect saw a man riding a bicycle westbound on Angola Road. The man, the deputy wrote in a report, was wearing clothing that matched a provided suspect description.
The man jumped off his bicycle and ran into a nearby woods in the 6800 block of Angola as the deputy approached. The man was not found, but the bicycle was taken to the county property room.
No arrests have been made.
