Two gang members convicted of killing 1-year-old girl and seriously injuring her sister were ordered today to spend 40 years to life in prison.

Keshawn Jennings, 21, of 244 Wasaon St., and Antwaine Jones, 19, of 3145 Cottage Ave., faced up to life in prison without parole after being found guilty in Lucas County Common Pleas Court on July 5.

The two were convicted of all the counts against them: aggravated murder, murder, improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation, attempted murder, and four counts of felonious assault, along with eight gun specifications, for firing 16 shots into a Moody Manor apartment Aug. 9.

Killed was Keondra Hooks, who suffered a single gunshot wound to the head; her then 2-year-old sister, Leondra Hooks, was seriously wounded after being shot in the chest. The girls were sleeping on the floor of the central-city apartment where they lived when the shots were fired, shattering a rear sliding-glass door.

A third suspect, James Moore, 21, testified against his friends during trial, saying Jennings and Jones were armed with guns intending to go after a rival Crips gang member who was on Manor Boyz – Bloods – turf.

The men shot up the wrong apartment, he testified.

Moore, of 2037 W. Terrace View St., who drove the getaway vehicle, was originally indicted on the same charges, but pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter on July 11. He was sentenced to serve three years in prison – an arrangement reached by prosecutors and Moore.
