Two people were wounded, one seriously, during an exchange of gunfire in a central Toledo neighborhood today.
Medical crews and police were summoned shortly after 3 p.m. to 123 W. Park St. for what was initially described as injuries from a fight, but soon revised to people shot.
Neighbors declined to speak with a reporter, but could be overheard describing to police two men running between houses firing at each other. One man, with an abdominal wound, was transported by ambulance from nearby Cottage Street, while the other victim was taken away from in front of 123 West Park.
Police sources told The Blade that the shootings erupted from a fight between two men, at least one of whom was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. A large group of civilians and police officers gathered outside the hospital's main entrance afterward.
Later police radio communications suggested the incident was gang-related.
