Rt. 19 crash hurts2 truck drivers

3rd man suffers minor injuries

OAK HARBOR, Ohio — A FedEx delivery truck driver and a dump-truck driver were hurt Tuesday when their vehicles collided on State Rt. 19 just north of Salem-Carroll Road.

FedEx truck driver Andrew R. Everett, 29, of Toledo was flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center after the 1:30 p.m. crash, a report by the Ohio Highway Patrol stated. The dump-truck driver, Eric Duncan, 39, also of Toledo, was transported by ground to St. Vincent.

A hospital spokesman said Mr. Everett, who troopers said was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the truck, was admitted to the hospital and stabilized. Mr. Duncan remained in the emergency room late today, so a report on his condition was unavailable, she said.

A third person, Anthony W. Robbins of Toledo, age unavailable, was a passenger in Mr. Everett’s vehicle and jumped from the FedEx truck and into a ditch right before the crash occurred, troopers said. He suffered minor injuries.

The patrol report said Mr. Duncan was driving north on Route 19 with a full load of asphalt when he drove off the right side of the road, overcorrected, drove back onto 19, and overturned.

As the dump truck overturned, it struck the FedEx truck, which was southbound; both vehicles slid north on 19 before coming to rest, the report said.

It is unknown whether Mr. Duncan wore his seat belt, troopers said.
