BRADNER, Ohio -- A Helena, Ohio, man was injured when his car and a train collided on U.S. 6 at the CSX Transportation tracks in Wood County's Freedom Township, sheriff's deputies said.

Dennis Coble, 59, was westbound on U.S. 6 about 12:55 p.m. and struck the side of the northbound train as it passed the crossing. A witness reported that lights and gates at the crossing were working, deputies said.

Mr. Coble was taken by medical helicopter to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.

The crash site is about 25 miles south of Toledo.
