Attempted break-in reported in Toledo

Central-city homeowner admits firing gun at suspects

A homeowner who fired at least one shot at a trio of suspected burglars did not injure anyone, police said.

Edward Charles told police three young males were trying to break into his detached garage at 1518 Nebraska Ave. at 11:20 a.m. today.

When Mr. Charles saw the suspects, he fired at least one shot, but appears to not have struck any of the suspects, police said.

Police were searching the area for the three males -- one suspect in all black, another in white, and another in tan -- but had no luck.

A police K-9 unit was out tracking shoe prints, but lost the trail, police said.

It was not clear if charges would be filed against Mr. Charles.

Police ask that anyone with information call 419-255-1111.
