Van Wert Co. crash injures man, kills boy

VAN WERT, Ohio — A teenager died and a 64-year-old Toledoan was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday on State Rt. 637 near Elm Sugar Road in Van Wert County's Hoaglin Township.

The collision, reported about 2:55 p.m., was between a northbound car driven by Robert A. Seffernick, 17, of Melrose, Ohio, and a sport utility vehicle driven by David Simko, 64, of Toledo.

The teen apparently lost control on the snow-covered road and slid left of the center line, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Mr. Seffernick was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Simko was flown to Parkview North Regional Medical Center, where he was in serious condition.
