Car, tractor-trailer slide off of U.S. 24 near Waterville

A car and tractor-trailer went off the side of U.S. 24 near Waterville this afternoon, apparently the result of rough and icy road conditions.

The car was completely off the side of the road around 3:45 p.m., while the tractor-trailer was partially blocking traffic.

There was no immediate indication of injuries.

The accident was on the eastbound side of Route 24 just west of Neowash Road. Observers on the scene say the road surface is rough and icy from drifted snow that has frozen, and motorists should be especially careful on Route 24 between Neowash and State Route 295.
