With the ever-present caveat of "weather-permitting," Toledo Speedway officially opens its 2010 season Friday night with a full racing show, featuring the kick-off of the baptismal run of the Valvoline Instant Oil Change (VIOC) Summer Racing Series.
The concept calls for 10 events of Friday night races at the half-mile track on Benore Road to be grouped together in a series. Valvoline Instant Oil Change customers will receive a Family 4-Pak (two adults, two children) of tickets to attend one of the 10 series events, with any oil change purchased at one of the nine Toledo Valvoline locations.
"This package will give Toledo Speedway tremendous exposure and give the fans a chance to obtain race tickets - at no charge when they get their oil changed," speedway co-owner Ron Drager said.
The dates for the series are tonight, May 7, May 14, May 21, June 25, July 16, July 30, August 6, August 20, and August 27.
For tonight's season-opener, Toledo Speedway will run the ARCA Sportsman, Factory Stocks, Figure 8's, and 4 Cylinders. For the regular Friday night shows at the track, the front gates open at 5 p.m., time trials take place at 6:15 p.m., with the racing getting under way at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are available at the gate and at 419-727-1100 at a cost of $10 for adults, $3 for kids 6-14, and free for kids under six. Toledo Speedway is located just west of the I-75/Alexis Road exit.
