Animal lovers are invited to take their pets to International Park at 1 p.m. tomorrow for the annual interfaith Blessing of Animals in honor of St. Francis of Assisi.
The service will include songs, Scripture, and prayer, and the blessing of pets using holy waters.
St. Francis of Assisi (1182-1226), who founded three orders in the Catholic church, is the patron saint of ecology and protector of pets.
The ceremony is sponsored by the St. Paschal Fraternity, Toledo, Secular Franciscan Order, and the Friends of St. Francis of Assisi, Toledo.
