SPORTS NOTES

HEATHER DOWNS CLINIC: A free junior golf clinic is scheduled for Saturday April 20 at Heather Downs Country Club. This clinic is open to all junior golfers age 18 and under. Ages 10 and under will meet from 9am-10:30am and ages 11 and older will meet from 11am-12:30 pm. The Free Junior Golf Clinic serves as a prelude to the Spring Junior Golf Academy which will be held from Sat. April 27th through Sat. May 25th. The Spring Junior Academy will be held for youngsters age 10 and under from 8am-9:30am each day and ages 11 and older will meet from 10am-11:30am each day. 1948–The Toronto Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup in four games as they beat the Detroit Red Wings 7-2.

1960–The Montreal Canadiens win their fifth straight Stanley Cup with a four-game sweep of the Toronto Maple Leafs, including tonight's 4-0 victory.

1962–Elgin Baylor of Los Angeles scores a record 61 points to lead the Lakers to a 126-121 triumph over the Boston Celtics in the NBA finals.

1968–Bob Goalby wins the Masters when Roberto de Vincenzo of Argentina is penalized for signing an incorrect scorecard.

1985–Bernhard Langer beats Curtis Strange, Ray Floyd and Seve Ballesteros by two strokes to win the Masters.
