2 area fire departments receive $2,500 donations

BLADE STAFF

A Whitehouse-area farmer has chosen two area fire departments as beneficiaries of $2,500 donations he won in a contest sponsored by Monsanto Corp.

Jake Heilmann entered the America's Farmers Grow Communities drawing, held by the Monsanto Fund, last fall and was chosen the Lucas County winner.

He selected the Waterville Fire Association and the Whitehouse Fire Department.

The Waterville department will use the funds to update equipment for its emergency medical services, while the Whitehouse department plans to add the money to its Gary Studer Memorial Scholarship fund.
