Ohio man pleads guilty in cold-case slaying

Authorities say he will testify against co-defendant


CHARDON, Ohio — Authorities say a northeastern Ohio man has admitted his role in the 2010 slaying of a 17-year-old boy and will testify against his co-defendant.

On Monday 23-year-old Matthew Boone pleaded guilty to complicity to murder and tampering with evidence in the slaying of Daniel Swan, whose body was found lying on a road in July 2010.

Boone and 26-year-old Dustin Plottke were arrested in July by Geauga County sheriff’s deputies after three years of searching for those responsible.

The (Willoughby) News-Herald reports Boone told the judge that he and Plottke were out drinking when they saw Swan walking and hit him with the truck door before Plottke hit him in the head with a pipe.

Plottke’s trial is scheduled for Feb. 3. He Has pleaded not guilty.
