AKRON — Five University of Toledo women’s basketball players scored in double figures on Wednesday night in a 77-65 win at Akron.
Yolanda Richardson scored 16 points, Naama Shafir had 15, and Andola Dortch and former Akron player Kyle Baumgartner had 14 a piece. Andola Dortch added 11 points for the Rockets (16-2, 4-1), who won their fourth in a row.
Toledo shot 51 percent in the first half and led at halftime 41-37. The Rockets, who never trailed in the second half, forced 21 turnovers.
Akron cut the deficit to 65-59 with 3 minutes, 8 seconds to go on a Sina King jumper.
Richardson followed with a layup, and Dortch converted two free throws to bring the lead back to double-digits.
Akron (12-6, 3-2) received 21 points from Rachel Tecca, the Mid-American Conference’s leading scorer. King added 15.
