Worker hit, injured by car on Bancroft St.
A construction worker was seriously hurt yesterday when he was struck by a car in West Toledo, police said.
Thomas E. Farster, 60, of Clyde, Ohio, was taken to Toledo Hospital after the accident, which occurred about 10:50 a.m. on West Bancroft Street near Detroit Avenue, police said.
A hospital spokesman said she had no information to release.
Mr. Farster was walking in the construction area in the right lane of westbound Bancroft near Academy Avenue when Racheal A. Chiv, 19, of Brooklyn, Ohio, who had been driving in a left lane, attempted to merge into the construction area over orange cones, police said.
Mr. Farster had been walking along the rear of a vehicle stopped in the construction area. That vehicle, driven by David B. Bolton, 52, of Weston, Ohio, also wound up being struck by Ms. Chiv's car. Neither he nor Ms. Chiv was injured, police said.
Police said the work zone warning sign and construction area appeared to be marked properly.
