Emergency crews have extricated the female driver of a car that on Monday morning plunged off of the second floor of a parking garage at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.
The vehicle went through a barrier on the second floor about 10 a.m. and landed on its roof on the ground by the garage. The unidentified driver was extricated from the car about 10:45 a.m. and was being treated in the hospital, said Toledo Deputy Fire Chief Phil Cervantes.
Sarah Velliquette, a hospital spokesman, said the woman was taken into St. V’s with non-life-threatening injuries. She did not release the woman’s name or condition.
The details of the accident are still being investigated and the deputy chief said it is not known yet whether the driver was leaving or just arriving in the parking garage.
Either way, "she somehow drive through a cement barrier on the second floor of the parking lot," Chief Cervantes said.
