Talented Michigan pair to test Ohio State
For the collection of graybeards on the Ohio State defense - those seniors who have been through the Big Ten wars over and over - there is a certain level of discomfort with the impetuous nature of youth. When the elder Buckeyes go over their notes for Saturday's game at The Big House and look at Michigan's two freshman quarterbacks, they see the spontaneity and impulsiveness of youth.

No. 6 North Carolina holds off No. 15 Ohio State
Deon Thompson had 15 points and 12 rebounds and No. 6 North Carolina managed to hold on for a 77-73 victory over No. 15 Ohio State in the 2K Sports Classic semifinals on Thursday night.

OSU great's wife led battle against cancer
Stefanie Spielman, the wife of NFL and Ohio State star Chris Spielman who led a public fight against breast cancer, died Thursday after a lengthy battle with the disease. She was 42.

FG in OT gives OSU fifth straight Big Ten title
To get Jim Tressel to his first Rose Bowl as a head coach, it figured that Ohio State would have to play its first overtime game in more than five years. After all, no Rose comes without thorns. Once in the extra period against Iowa on Saturday, the Buckeyes quickly made it clear Tressel would receive a postgame bouquet.

Barclay's OT kick puts OSU in Rose Bowl, 27-24
COLUMBUS — Back-up Devin Barclay kicked a 39-yard field goal in overtime on Saturday to give No. 10 Ohio State a 27-24 victory over No. 15 Iowa and send the Buckeyes to the Rose Bowl for the first time in 13 years.

OSU defense plans to attack Iowa QB
COLUMBUS - The medical report states that Iowa quarterback Ricky Stanzi, who led the Hawkeyes to a 9-0 start this season - the best in school history - had minor surgery on his injured ankle Tuesday and will not be able to play on Saturday when Ohio State hosts Iowa. A trip to the Rose Bowl and a guaranteed share of a Big Ten title goes to the winner.

A special player: Small's returns play big role in OSU's success
About a hundred grand worth of Penn State fans were lathered up and ready to squeeze Ohio State inside an auditory full-stadium press Saturday when Ray Small collected a punt at midfield. A few cuts and bursts later, Small had advanced to the 9-yard line and sucked the life right out of that ready-to-go-bonkers crowd.
