Share-paid farming grows
Patting the loose soil down, Jaime Minch was sure to not crowd the roots of the cumbers she was planting. Ms. Minch carefully removed the tiny plants from their flimsy plastic pots and spaced them equally apart at Friendship Farms CSA near Waterville on Tuesday afternoon. The plants are to yield vegetables for the farm's "community-supported agriculture" program, which allows members of the public to buy shares in the farm.
