Cooper makes progress with guayule
In less than two years, Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. expects to be able to make a tire using 100 percent domestically produced rubber from the guayule plant. It’s too early to predict how well those prototypes will hold up to testing, but people involved in the project say the progress so far has been nothing short of remarkable. “In two years, we’ve gone from test tubes to now making tires,” said Michael Fraley, the chief executive officer of Arizona-based bioagriculture company PanAridus.
