Columbia Gas rate falls slightly for next month

Columbia Gas of Ohio Inc. said Friday that its July rate for its residential natural gas customers will be 58 cents per hundred cubic feet.

The rate is based on a recent closing price of 44 cents per hundred cubic feet on the New York Mercantile Exchange, and 14 cents for a state approved service fee. With the new rate, the gas utility said the average consumer bill in June will be $35.88.

Last July, the rate was 50 cents per ccf and the average bill was $32. The rate for June is 60 cents per ccf and the average June bill was expected to be $40.93.
