Five people were hurt yesterday, two seriously, when a minivan and a pickup collided head-on on Dorr Street near Centennial Road in Springfield Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Kathy Bethel, 32, of Whitehouse, driver of the minivan, and her children, Zachary, 6, and Jennifer, 8, who were passengers, were taken to Toledo Hospital. Ms Bethel and Zachary were in critical condition, and Jennifer was in fair condition last night.
Arthur Heudecker, 72, of Ottawa Lake, driver of the truck, and his son, Timothy, 41, of King Road, Springfield Township, who was a passenger, were treated at Flower Hospital.
The minivan was eastbound on Dorr, just east of Centennial, about 4:30 p.m. when it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the westbound truck. The two children were asleep at the time. Ms. Bethel was trapped in the vehicle more than an hour, troopers said.
All involved were wearing seat belts, troopers said.
