The Toledo-Lucas County Plan Commissions yesterday recommended the approval of zoning changes in Swanton and Springfield Townships.
The commissioners approved a zone change for 5.49 acres at 12960 Airport Highway in Swanton Township. Toledo-based Timber Holdings LLC owns the site, which consists of two buildings and several above and below-ground storage tanks. The company requested the zone change in order to market the parcel for commercial development.
The commissioners also approved a special use permit for the construction of loft apartments to be located at 6017, 6043, and 6101 Merger Drive in Springfield Township.
The developer, Doug Wamsher of Sylvania, requested the zoning change to construct second-story loft apartments in conjunction with proposed retail shops below.
Both township planning commissions and trustees will have also to approve the zoning resolutions before they can go into effect.
