SWANTON - Council members here have authorized Jon Gochenour, Swanton village administrator, to apply for grant and loan assistance funding for resurfacing work on Dodge Street.
Cost estimate for the project is $158,700, and Swanton officials would like to obtain a $78,700 grant and a $40,000 no-interest loan to help pay for it.
The village's local share would be $40,000.
Council's vote this week allows Mr. Gochenour to enter into agreements with the state to receive funds from the Ohio Public Works Commission.
The resolution was approved as an emergency measure in order to file the grant application by the Oct. 7 deadline.
Barbara Guess, finance director for Swanton, has told officials that adequate funds are available to pay for the village's share of the project cost.
