Child-care centers offer new program

A new child-care program is available for income-eligible families at five area YMCA and JCC Child Care Centers.

The Early Learning Initiative program is open for enrollment for children ages 3 to 5 years who are not yet in kindergarten.

The program is funded and sponsored by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

The program includes educational opportunities, two meals and a snack, health screenings, developmental assessments, and full-day child care throughout the year.

The YMCA also is offering free swimming lessons for those who attend.

The free program is available at the following child care centers: Wayman D. Palmer Community YMCA, Alexis Program Center, Summit YMCA, South Toledo YMCA, and the West Program Center.

For more information, contact YMCA and JCC Child Care Services at 419-474-3995.
