Run With Blade is the first of toledoblade.com s blogs, and will cover running, cycling, and other recreational athletics in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Your host is Kevin Cesarz, the Web Editor of toledoblade.com. Run With Blade will keep in touch with the great under-appreciated and less-chronicled portion of our sporting world. We admire the non-traditional sports section athletes, and the participatory events that highlight personal goals and daily disciplines lasting well past high school and college eligibility.
Top athletes will always shine in print and on television their plays, records, and contracts fill up the newspaper pages and ESPN. But deep in the background and rarely reported on is the training and sacrifice that puts athletes in the spotlight. We ll note the training and sacrifice of the many others without sponsorships or a name on the back of their gear. So don t look for many big-time athletes here, but big-time dreams.
You will find area news, my commentary and your commentary. Feel free to post your running and recreation experiences, and upcoming events. Pass on tips, training and race strategy, diet and energy ideas, and injury problems and recovery methods. Share your big-ticket event/race plans and personal marathon training schedules. But mostly, you re invited to participate in toledoblade.com and Run With Blade.
This is a great idea - I'm bookmarking the page. As someone still exploring the Toledo running scene, I'd love to hear about great places to run in the area and details about their conditions, amenities (bathrooms, water), terrain, etc. So far I've been sticking to the University/Parks Trail and Wildwood and would love to hear about other places, especially for long runs (12-20 miles).>
Great Idea - I look forward to you new addition.
