Motorcyclist hurt avoiding car

MONROE A Detroit man was hurt yesterday when his motorcycle crashed after he avoided striking a car that pulled in front of him on Telegraph Road in Monroe County, authorities said.

Willie E. Worthen, 59, was admitted in serious condition to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said.

Mr. Worthen was southbound on Telegraph about 6 p.m. when a car eastbound on Stumpmier Road failed to yield after stopping for a stop sign, sheriff s deputies said.

Mr. Worthen was thrown from the motorcycle after it overturned and skidded, deputies said. The motorist fled; the car was described as a blue Lexus with Florida license plates.
