McCord Junior High takes 4th at Science Olympiad

McCord Junior High placed 4th out of 19 schools in their first Science Olympiad tournament. The McCord team took part in the Science Olympiad regional competition held at Defiance College on March 1. Coached by McCord science teacher, Janelle Low, the team of 16 students earned 13 medals in 23 events including meteorology, solar system, simple machines, entomology and more. On April 26, the team will compete in the Science Olympiad state competition to be held on the Ohio State University campus. The two teams continued to battle through the seventh period of overtime, making the total number of periods in play 10. Before the beginning of the 11th period both teams were declared state champions by the OHSAA. The final score was 1-1.

Northview sends hockey team to state

Northview High School held a pep rally and sendoff for the Wildcats hockey team at the school in Sylvania, Thursday, March 6, 2014. After the rally the team traveled to Columbus to compete in the state semifinals, part of the 'Frozen Four.' It will be the third year in a row in which the team has advanced to this level.
