Kwanzaa celebration
Karolla Glass, 19, a leader of Brownie Troop 1340, lights the seventh candle, representing Imani, or 'faith,' during a Kwanzaa celebration for the Maumee Valley Girl Scout Council. The program last night at the Maureen Simmons Family Investment Center on Nebraska Avenue featured Girl Scout troops conducting activities based on the seven principles of Kwanzaa: unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. The event included African cuisine, dancing, and crafts.
