The Toledo Fire Department will promote five firefighters - two to captain and three to lieutenant - during a ceremony today.
Lts. Jefferson Edwards, 45, and James Price, 38, will become captains. Both have been with the department since September, 1992. Lieutenant Edwards is a relief lieutenant, and Lieutenant Price is assigned to station No. 11.
Firefighters Mark Benadum, Cary Garnett, and Michael Posadny will be promoted to lieutenant.
Firefighter Benadum, 38, joined the department in March, 1998, and is assigned to station No. 6. Firefighter Garnett, 39, was hired in March, 1996, and works at station No. 4. Firefighter Posadny, 32, at station No. 5, joined the department in September, 1992.
Initially, those promoted will be in the relief pool, moving from station to station as needed, Capt. William Hickey said.
The ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. in City Council chambers in Government Center in downtown Toledo.
