A Toledo woman fatally injured in an incident that police said involved her husband died of complications from strangulation, according to the Lucas County Coroner's Office.
April Nicole Johnson, 24, was pronounced dead at 1:23 p.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. The cause of death was released Friday by Deputy Lucas County Coroner Dr. Cynthia Beisser.
Johnnie Johnson, 41, of 2030 Ashland Ave., Apt. 610 remained in the Lucas County jail Friday in lieu of $200,000 bond on a felonious assault charge.
Police responding to a report of a person down arrived about 10 p.m. Saturday at an alley in the 200 block of Prescott Street. Her husband was arrested at the scene without incident.
As of Friday afternoon, no new charges had been filed against him, police said.
