Rally planned for Wood County Library

BLADE STAFF

BOWLING GREEN - Supporters of an operating levy for the Wood County District Public Library plan to rally Monday outside the library, which is closed for the week because of budget woes.

All library employees are on unpaid furlough for the week for the second time this year.

Barbara Ruland, president of the Friends of the Library, said patrons who regularly use the library are encouraged to turn out for the 10 a.m. rally to show their support.

Library trustees decided earlier this year to place a five-year, 0.8-mill levy on the November ballot that, if approved, would raise about $1 million a year to restore hours and services that were cut.

The University of Toledo office of admissions will hold its first "Rocket Re-Start," an open house-style admission event for adults wanting to continue their education.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon today in the front lobby of Rocket Hall.

Adults will be able to gather information and receive an individual follow-up on getting started in school in the fall.

Also available will be two bus tours and two walking tours with a guide. Applications filled out at Rocket Re-Start require a $40 fee. Those attending the event should bring transcripts and tax documents to complete their applications and the Free Application for Student Aid, known as the FAFSA.
