Local Red Cross worker sent to Colorado fires
A local American Red Cross volunteer will be deployed today to assist in the effort to care for the thousands of individuals affected by raging wildfires in the western United States.
Lucas County disaster mental health volunteer Allison Fisher will leave this afternoon for Colorado for two weeks. Ms. Fisher will utilize her mental health service skills to assist teams helping residents displaced by the fires.
Out-of-control wildfires are burning in Colorado, Utah, and Montana. Almost 300 Red Cross workers are assisting relief efforts in Colorado where fires are threatening up to 20,000 homes.
