Main Library to accept passport applications

BLADE STAFF

Toledo's downtown library will begin accepting passport applications next week, the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library announced.

The U.S. Department of State has approved the library as a passport-application acceptance agency, and operations will begin Monday.

Applications will be accepted up to one hour before library closing time, Monday through Saturday.

"We are pleased to offer this service to the community," said Cathy Bartel, the Main Library's circulation manager. "We think we can offer the service with hours that are additional to others in our area. This service also complements travel resources the library offers."

Along with the federal passport fee, a $25 processing fee will be assessed. Passport photo service will be available for $10.

Applicants should check the travel.state.gov Web site or call 1-877-487-2778 to confirm the documents needed for their applications.
