Daylight-saving to return Sunday

Don’t be late for church — or anywhere else — on Sunday morning: daylight-saving time returns at 2 a.m.

Since 2007, daylight-saving time in the United States has begun on the second Sunday of March and reverted to Standard Time on the first Sunday of November.

As a result, daylight-saving time is in effect for nearly two-thirds of the year.

The spring time change involves moving clocks ahead, so the hour between 2 and 3 a.m. is skipped; in the fall, that hour is repeated.

Public safety officials urge people to use the time change as an occasion to replace batteries in smoke and carbon-monoxide detectors.

Toledo’s sunrise on Saturday will occur at 6:56 a.m., but on Sunday it will be at 7:54 a.m.; sunset will occur here at 6:34 p.m. and 7:36 p.m., respectively.
