Construction to the facade of Hollywood Casino Toledo to repair panels that were separating from the building will continue into September, officials said.
The project, which began in May, is to repair the exterior insulation and finishing system of the building, casino spokesman John McNamara said.
The construction is being completed by Rudolph/Libbe Inc. The contractor’s spokesman, Lowell Metzger, said the repair will consist of mechanical reattachment of exterior panels to the casino.
“We noticed that some of the adhered exterior panels were becoming separated, and so that drew our attention to the problem and the slight foam board insulation panels as they became separated from the building in some areas,” he said.
Mr. Metzger said an investigation and testing were unable to determine the cause of the issue. He said the panels were not a safety hazard.
“These panels are very light. One of the panels itself probably weighs five pounds,” he said. “They're two feet by four feet in size. ... So they weren't really going to cause any damage, but obviously it's something we wanted to get taken care of right away once the problem was noticed.”
Mr. Metzger said the casino's operation will be unaffected by the project. The final cost of the repair, which is covered by warranty, has not yet been determined.
