The River Raisin National Battlefield Park will give the holidays a historical perspective with free events on Dec. 7 and 14.
The park will hold An Old French Noel from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 7, with a lesson in historic French Christmas traditions such as the yule log and holiday cooking, along with storytelling and refreshments.
A tea and open house Dec. 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. will feature the visitors center decked out in festive Michigan greenery and offer tea blends of herbs native to the Frenchtown settlement, which became Monroe. Live music and homemade refreshments are planned.
