January snow breaks record set in Blizzard of '78

Toledoans are living through history.

The National Weather Service reported today that the Toledo area received 1.6 inches of snow overnight — making this January the snowiest month in the area's history.

During what is often called the Blizzard of '78, a total of 30.8 inches of snow fell during January, 1978.

With the most recent snow blanketing the area, the total snowfall for this January so far is 30.9 inches.

With 11 days left in the month, Toledo has more than enough time to set another snowfall record.
