GRAND RAPIDS, Ohio — A Fort Wayne, Ind., man was killed Wednesday afternoon when his pickup rolled over and struck a pole in Wood County's Grand Rapids Township, sheriff's deputies said.

Authorities identified the man as Walter L. Conner, 78.

Mr. Conner was traveling west on U.S. 6 just west of Wapakoneta Road, about a mile east of the Henry County line, around 4:50 p.m. when he drove off the left side of the road, deputies said.

The vehicle rolled over several times and struck a utility pole. Mr. Conner was not wearing a seat belt, deputies said.

The crash remains under investigation. Northwest 190 EMS and the Grand Rapids Fire Department assisted at the scene, authorities said.
