EOPA program gives work to young adults

BLADE STAFF

The Economic Opportunity Planning Association, or EOPA, has begun taking applications from teenagers and young adults for the Lucas County summer jobs program.

The eight-week program will place about 700 people between the ages of 16 and 24 in the work force from May through September.

Registration for the program is at www.eopa.org/LCEP/home.html. Forms can be downloaded and sent to LCEP@eopa.org or by fax at 419-255-2149. The deadline is May 1.

The seasonal jobs pay $8 an hour and are funded with federal poverty funds. Participants will receive a week of training, case management, and job coaching. They will be placed in jobs with 25 working hours per week.

Participants must live in income-eligible households in which at least one minor lives.
