BOWLING GREEN — A South Toledo man who abducted a University of Toledo student and held him for ransom was sentenced Tuesday to three years in prison.
Blake Long, 21, of 5360 Florita Drive pleaded guilty March 27 to abduction for an Aug. 18 incident in which he and at least two others kidnapped a UT student from China by promising him a trip to Cedar Point. They instead took him to a vacant house in Bowling Green where they tried to extort money from his family in China.
Long’s sister, Brittany Long, 20, and Nicholas Martinez, 19, previously were sentenced to three years in prison after they pleaded guilty to abduction. A fourth co-defendant, Hui Zhang, 24, is set to go to trial Aug. 25.
In Lucas County Common Pleas Court, Blake Long is charged with aggravated robbery, robbery, and intimidation of a victim or witness stemming from a March 19 holdup at Vito’s Pizza, 4317 Heatherdowns Blvd.
That case is scheduled for trial Aug. 18.
