Local schedules shift for Labor Day

County, state, federal government offices closed today


Toledo, county, state, and federal government offices will be closed today in observance of Labor Day as will be Oregon, Maumee, Perrysburg, and Sylvania city offices. Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicle deputy registrar sites across the state also will be closed.

A list of select businesses and services follows:

Schools: Public and parochial schools will be closed. Owens Community College’s Perrysburg Township and Findlay campuses as well as the Arrowhead Park Learning Center in Maumee and the Learning Center at The Source in downtown Toledo will be closed. The University of Toledo will have no classes.

Public utilities: Toledo’s Department of Public Utilities will be closed, along with Columbia Gas, Toledo Edison and its parent company, FirstEnergy. Emergency services are available to customers.

Libraries: The Main Toledo-Lucas County Public Library downtown and all branches will be closed.

Retail centers

■ Franklin Park Shopping Mall hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (hours may vary for department stores, theaters, and restaurants).

■ Levis Commons hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Hours may vary for department stores, theaters, and restaurants.)

■ Fallen Timbers hours 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Trash pickup: Refuse pickup will be delay one day for Toledo residents; collection services in other communities vary.

Mail service: Post offices will be closed; no mail will be delivered.

Bus service: Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority buses will operate on a holiday schedule.

Parking: Meter parking in downtown Toledo will be free.
