BCSN’s ‘Rant and Rage’ to air final show today

BLADE STAFF

The Rant and Rage show on BCSN, co-hosted by BCSN’s Tom Cole and The Blade’s Frank Corsoe, will air live for the final time today beginning at 5:30 p.m. from Fifth Third Field.

The show began on April 5, 2007. It was the brainchild of BCSN’s director and general manager Nancy Duwe, who paired Cole and Corsoe together.

And 274 shows later, it’s time to say good-bye.

“It was the longest running interactive show that was on BCSN,” said Veronica Pinciotti, BCSN’s director of local stations. “Frank and Tom will be taking their new show on the road some time in the fall.”

During the weekly one-hour shows, Rant and Rage managed to attract some of the biggest names in the sports world as guests.

Pro football Hall of Famers Paul Hornung and Len Dawson appeared on a regular basis. Super Bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy, Super Bowl MVP Doug Williams, race car driver Danica Patrick, World Poker Tour’s Mike Sexton, Sports Illustrated’s Gary Smith, and others such as Chuck Muncie, Phil Villapiano, and Browns coaches Rob Chudzinski and Sam Rutigliano participated in R and R.

“It’s true we had some amazing guests,” Corsoe said. “But it was our ties to colleges such as UT, BG, Lourdes, Owens that kept the show lively. I can’t thank all of those college coaches and athletic directors who found time in their busy schedule to come on. Same is true for all of the high school coaches who cooperated with us. We are so very thankful for their support.”

Dom Gerome served as Rant and Rage’s longest-tenured producer, lasting more than four years. Other production workers included director, Kyle Weikart; audio, Alex Bourgeois and Chris Siterlet; graphics, Jill Hayden; cameras, Pete Piotrowski, Brent Sobczak, and Jon Collum; and production assistants, Ellie Reinbrecht and Nathan Baldwin.

“It was an honor and privilege to have Frank yell at me every Thursday night on R and R,” Cole said. “We would also like to thank Allan Block, Veronica Pinciotti, Pat Deville, Steve Piller, and Kurt Franck for the opportunity on R and R.”
