Scrapyard given preliminary OK to expand

Cherry Picked Auto Parts in Toledo has been given preliminary city approval for a five-acre expansion.

Joel Beren, who owns and operates the North Detroit scrapyard, said the addition will allow customers to access about 1,600 vehicles. Currently, about 900 are accessible. Cherry Picked allows customers to buy parts they’ve removed themselves. The expanded yard, which is to open in June, will cover 17 acres.
