BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s Mark Friedman and Chris Nell were named to the All-Western Collegiate Hockey Association first team, the league announced today.
Friedman, a sophomore, was one of two defensemen on the all-WCHA team, while Nell, also a sophomore, was the team’s goaltender.
It marked the first time the Falcons had a player win first-team honors since Jordan Sigalet was named to the All-Central Collegiate Hockey Association team in 2003-04. BG has not had two first team all-league players since 1994-95.
Junior defenseman Sean Walker was named All-WCHA second team, while senior forward Mark Cooper was chosen for the third team. This marked the first time Bowling Green had four all-league players since 1986-87.
