BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University football player Datrin Guyton was arrested by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department Saturday and charged with robbery.

The senior receiver is expected to appear in court Monday.

“We continue to gather information on this situation,” BG athletics department spokesman Jason Knavel said in a statement. “Until further notice, Datrin is suspended indefinitely.”

Last season Guyton played in 11 of Bowling Green’s 12 games — he was benched for the Falcons’ contest at Miami — and started five times. He finished with 31 catches for 585 yards, good for third-best on the team in both categories, and had two touchdown catches.

Guyton had two games with at least 100 receiving yards, including 158 yards on five catches against South Dakota and 112 yards on five catches in the season finale at Eastern Michigan.

A native of Manor, Texas, the 22-year-old Guyton began his college career at Oregon State, where as a redshirt freshmen he caught 14 passes for 178 yards in eight games before he was dismissed from the team for "violation of athletic department and team rules as it relates to the expectations of a student-athlete" during the 2015 season.

In 2016, he played at Copiah-Lincoln Community College and had 31 catches for 471 yards and three scores.

Guyton is the second Bowling Green receiver to land in trouble this offseason. Matt Wilcox left the team after he was charged with OVI in April.
